Editors of Betrayed
Ira Shapiro, Founder of the Common Sense Coalition. He is a lawyer, a long-time senior Senate staffer, and a former U.S. trade official. He served as General Counsel in the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) and then as chief U.S. negotiator with Japan and Canada with the rank of ambassador. He is the author of a trilogy of narrative histories about the Senate, starting with The Last Great Senate: Courage and Statesmanship in Times of Crisis (2012), which was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize.
Anne Kim, Executive Director of the Common Sense Coalition. She is a journalist, lawyer, a former senior staffer on Capitol Hill, and a veteran of several DC-based think tanks. She’s the author of Poverty for Profit: How Corporations Get Rich Off America’s Poor (The New Press, 2024) and Abandoned: America’s Lost Youth and the Crisis of Disconnection (The New Press, 2020), winner of the 2020 Goddard Riverside Stephan Russo Book Prize for Social Justice.
